ZAGREB, Aug 22 (Hina) - As part of bilateral cooperation between
Croatia and the United States, two Croatian Defence Ministry
scholarship recipients left for the United States on Friday where
they would spend the next five years studying at the School of
Aeronautics of the University of North Dakota.
Hrvoje Matijevic and Damir Mika were seen off at Zagreb
airport by the head of the Defence Ministry's International
Cooperation Department, Major Damir Terzic, and their families
and friends.
The military cooperation programme shows that the Defence
Ministry has a long-term plan for the professional development of
its employees so that the process of transition could be carried
out as efficiently as possible and that Croatia's security and
defence system could be brought closer to Western systems, Terzic
said.
Matijevic and Mika said they were confident that they would
achieve good results during their schooling in the US.
The Croatian candidates passed very demanding tests, which
particularly focused on their knowledge of English and
mathematics.
More than 40 countries are sending their candidates for
further education at the School of Aeronautics, which is one of
the best educational and research institutions of that kind in
the world.
