DUBROVNIK, Aug 17 (Hina) - Dubrovnik County Prefect Jure Buric
and Dubrovnik Mayor Vido Bogdanovic on Sunday received the head
of the Christian-Jewish Understanding Centre from the Sacred
Heart University in Fairfield in the U.S, Rabbi Jack Bemporad,
and the Centre's founder, Rabbi Joseph Ehrenkranz.
Prefect Buric and Mayor Bogdanovic acquainted the two
guests with the situation in Croatia's southern-most county and
in Dubrovnik, especially concerning reconstruction, the results
of this year's tourist season and the resurgence of tourism in
this part of Croatia.
Rabbi Ehrenkranz explained his Centre dealt with the
establishment of better relations between Jews and Catholics, but
other religious communities as well. He and his friend had
arrived to Croatia with the aim to contribute to the achievement
of permanent peace in these areas.
The two guests from the States also visited the Dubrovnik
synagogue, where they held talks with the head of the Jewish
community of Dubrovnik, Bruno Horovic.
