VUKOVAR, Aug 15 (Hina) - The UNTAES Transitional Police Force
will assume full control of the checkpoints along the former line
of separation in Croatia's Danube river region on September 1 and
not today as earlier announced, UNTAES spokesman Yuri Chizik said
on Friday.
Chizik said that that had been decided by the head of the
UN Transitional Administration (UNTAES) and UNTAES military
commanders in the region.
It's nothing special, it's how the reintegration process
develops, he said.
Transitional police have been present at the checkpoints
for several days, along with UNTAES military personnel. Only
police will remain at the checkpoints as of September 1.
