PETRINJA, 10 Aug (Hina) - The residents of Petrinja on Sunday celebrated the day of their town and the day of St. Lawrence, the patron saint of Petrinja. The celebration was opened with a session of the Town Council, which was
addressed by the president of the Town Council Josip Grahovac and mayor Josip Dolenec. The session adopted a decision to re-name one of the town squares into Stjepan Radic square, and while the central town square was named the Square of Croatian Defenders.

Several thousands faithful walked through the town and
attended a mass, which was said by 15 priests, including two
priests from Germany.
The mass was conducted by Cardinal Franjo Kuharic.
The event was attended by many guests, including Parliament
Vice President Zarko Domljan, parliamentary representative Count
Jakob Eltz, European Parliament representative Doris Pack,
Austria's Ambassador to Croatia, Rudolf Bogner, Sisak Deputy
Prefect Zeljko Nenadic and municipal leaders.
