OSIJEK, 6 Aug (Hina) - The first train bound for Beli Manastir
left Osijek railway station Wednesday morning for the first time
after six years.
According to an Osijek railway station employee, Mladen
Silic, the train left Osijek at 5.10 am and returned at 6.53 am.
There were no problems during the ride, Silic said, adding that
the railway stations in Darda, Ceminac and Beli Manastir were
working normally.
Until the opening of the international border crossing near
Beli Manastir, the railway service between Osijek and Beli
Manastir will run three times a day.
The Osijek-Beli Manastir railway line was closed on 19
August 1991, and damage done to it amounted to US $1, 614 000.
This is the second railway line in the Danube river region
to be opened for traffic. The first railway line to be opened was
the one between Vinkovci and Tovarnik.
