ZAGREB, July 24 (Hina) - A Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister, Ivo
Sanader, on Thursday met John Shattuck, an assistant to the U.S. State
Secretary, who is charge of human rights.
At the Zagreb talks Sanader reiterated the full commitment of the
Croatian government to implementation of views which Croatian President
Franjo Tudjman expressed at a recent Brijuni meeting with U.S.
Ambassador to the UN, Bill Richardson, the foreign ministry said.
Hailing those views, Shattuck said he was interested in steps which
would be taken in the implementation of what had been agreed.
The U.S. diplomat said he was confident that the implementation of
those agreements would contribute to the promotion of ties between his
country and Croatia.
Sanader notified Shattuck of the course of peaceful reintegration
of the Croatian Danube river area and of preparations for a forthcoming
meeting between Tudjman and the Bosnian presidency's president, Alija
Izetbegovic.
He also informed him of steps made in a process of normalising
relations between Croatia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
(Serbia/Montenegro).
