ZAGREB AR
$ CHBISHOP
ZAGREB, 25 July (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Brotherhood Association +
of
Canada and the United States, Bernard Luketic, on Friday forwarded on behalf of+
the
Association's members a letter of congratulations to the newly appointed +
Archbishop of
Zagreb Monsignor Josip Bozanic, the first Bishop of Varazdin, Msgr Marko Culej,+
and
the first Bishop of Pozega, Antun Skvorcevic, the Croatian Emigrants' Society +
said in a
statement.
In his letter, Luketic expressed a wish for the friendly cooperation started +
with
the former Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Kuharic, to continue with Bozanic, +
and
promised full cooperation of emigrant Croats to the newly appointed bishops, +
wishing
them success in their service.
According to the statement by the Croatian Emigrants' Society, the emigrant
Croats' interest for new events in the Church is understandable, considering +
that
before the creation of independent Croatia, the Church in various ways provided+
care
for Croatian emigrants.
Even today U.S. Croats care for Croatian spiritual culture and the Croatian
people's Catholic tradition, as evidenced by more than 30 Croatian parishes in +
the
U.S., and 17 Croatian mission centres or parishes in Canada, which bring +
together
thousands of Croats in North America, the statement concluded.
