ZAGREB, June 13 (Hina) - The Association of Croatian Homeland War
Veterans (UHVDR) fully supports Croatian President Franjo Tudjman, the
Parliament and the Government in their policy which made the final
creation of an independent and free Croatian state possible, the
association's president, Lt. Gen. Djuro Decak, said at a Friday session,
adding that the UHVDR strongly condemned the pressure certain world
factors put on Croatia.
The UHVDR is of the opinion that part of the blame for crimes
committed against the Croatian people during the aggression is on those
who throughout the aggression offered logistic, political and moral
support to the aggressors in the occupied areas, said Decak.
Serbs who offered such support had joined the enemy in flight, he
said, pointing out that Croats are, contrary to reason and experience
from previous wars, pressurized to forgive the enemy (even though some
European countries have not forgiven the Germans after 50 years) and to
make it possible for criminals and their assistants to return to the
scene of crime without real investigation into their crimes.
The UHVDR particularly stressed it strongly opposed the return of
Serbs to Croatia until the return of Croats and Bosniaks (Muslims) to
Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro was ensured.
An unorganized return of Serbs could, according to Decak, cause
conditions for further tensions and conflicts. The long-standing
behaviour of some Serbs in Croatia many times confirmed that they cannot
accept Croatian symbols and Croatia as their country, he concluded.
