MOSTAR, June 28 (Hina) - The Association of Bosnian Croat Refugees
and Displaced Persons sent a request to the OSCE mission in Sarajevo
for an extension of the voters' registration deadline. #L#
Taking into consideration many complaints of displaced persons
from all areas of Bosnia-Herzegovina, especially from the Herzeg-
Bosnian Canton, where several thousand voters had not yet been
registered (to vote in the September muncipal elections), the
Association requested that the deadline for the registration of
voters in all of Bosnia-Herzegovina be extended, and thus enable
displaced Bosnian Croats to exercise their right to vote, the letter
said.
The Association also protested against the registration of
voters abroad. Many Croats, the Association said, had received no
reply to their applications from the OSCE main registration office in
Vienna. Several families had received confirmation that they were on
the lists of voters, but not the children, and vice versa, the letter
said.
The Association added that there were also those who, instead of
receiving confirmation about their registration, had received
provocative letters about membership in various Moslem organisations.
"So, we request of you to review the work of your office in
Vienna and to quickly correct errors," the request said.
