BELGRADE, June 21 (Hina) - A two-day meeting between working groups of
Croatian and Yugoslav foreign ministries ended in Belgrade on Wednesday.
The working groups harmonised stances on the agreement on border
areas. #L#
The agreement will regulate and facilitate border crossing for
citizens of either countries which have permanent residence in the
border area of one country and owned property in the other.
The agreement will provide such persons with border passes who will
be able to cross the border for an unlimited number of times and a
limited period of time.
The Croatian side has suggested that the time be limited to two
days, while the Yugoslav side is asking for ten days. No agreement has
been reached on the issue yet.
The key issue which still remains open concerns areas which are to
be treated as border zones. The two sides have exchanged lists of
sections of municipalities and settlements suggested to be treated as
border areas.
Further talks on the issue are to be held at the level of
delegations of the two countries' foreign ministries.
The Croatian and Yugoslav working groups also exchanged protocols
on the implementation of an agreement between the two countries on
determining border crossings, the issue about which views are to be
harmonised within the next several days.
