signed an inter-party agreement on the establishment of six Mostar municipalities and on the composition of future municipal authorities.

MOSTAR, 2 June (Hina) - The presidents of Mostar municipal councils of
the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Party
of Democratic Action (SDA), Mile Puljic and Zijad Hadziomerovic
respectively, on Monday signed an inter-party agreement on the
establishment of six Mostar municipalities and on the composition of
future municipal authorities. #L#
According to the agreement, the heads of Mostar municipalities and
presidents of municipal councils will be elected from among the majority
ethnic group in a municipality, while their deputies will be elected
from the ranks of the minority ethnic group.
The agreement would protect the basic national interests of the
Bosniak and Croat peoples in Mostar in line with the Dayton agreement,
Mostar mayor Ivan Prskalo said after the signing.
Deputy mayor Safet Orucevic added that the agreement provided full
protection of minority ethnic groups in individual municipalities.
