SARAJEVO, 31 March (Hina) - The talks on one police force in the Neretva
Canton, held last Saturday, failed due to a misunderstanding concerning the
insignia the police officers in the canton should wear on their uniforms,
but they would continue tomorrow and it was expected that the problem would
be solved, U.N. spokesman in Sarajevo Alexander Ivanko told reporters on
Monday.
The Saturday talks failed to yield results because the cantonal
Interior Minister Valentin Coric had objections concerning the proposed
insignia the police officers should wear on their sleeves.
According to Ivanko, the Croat side took a different stand concerning
a proposal presented by the Bosniac side and International Police Task Force
(IPTF).
Ivanko did not say anything about the nature of the proposal.
