York on Thursday, a statement from the Croatian Standing Mission at the UN said.

NEW YORK, March 4 (Hina) - Croatian candidate Mladen Juracic was elected to
the UN Commission for the Continental Shelf Borders at the sixth session of
member countries of the UN Convention on Sea Law of 1982, at the UN centre
in New York on Thursday, a statement from the Croatian Standing Mission at

Mladen Juracic, associate professor at the Natural Sciences and
Mathematics Faculty in Zagreb, was elected in the first round with a large
majority of votes.
One hundred and ten delegations participated in the work of the sixth
session and the Croatian delegation was headed by Assistant Foreign Minister
Jaksa Muljacic.
The Commission for the Continental Shelf Borders was founded on the
basis of the UN Convention on Sea Law and consists of 21 members, experts in
the field of geology, geophysics or hydrography. The Commission recommends
coastal countries with defining the outer borders of their continental
shelf.
