MOSTAR, March 4 (Hina) - Martin Garrod, the head of Bildt's
regional office in Mostar, on Tuesday reiterated a warning that
someone could be killed in Bulevar Street (a former confrontation
line) if the stoning did not stop in the street.
At a news conference Garrod called on teachers and parents to
prevent children who, he said, were participating in the dangerous
stoning in Bulevar.
Although journalists insisted on this issue, the regional IPTF
(international police) commander, Barthold Hubegger, could not
confirm any arrest in connection with a report by the IPTF on the
February 10 incident in the southern Bosnian town, as Mostar-based
international police had not engaged in the investigation.
Martin Garrod added that he had not been notified of arrests
of persons whom the international police blamed for the February 10
events in its report.
A spokesman for SFOR, Pierre Bayle, said today that SFOR
reconnaissance pilotless aircraft would continue carrying out their
mission regardless of the fact that such a plane had crushed near
the Buna river south of Mostar three days before.
The OSCE regional office's director, Edward Joseph, said that
a temporary election commission, led by American Ambassador Robert
Frowick, would take a final decision whether local elections are
going to be held in Mostar in July.
Implementation of results of last September's elections in
Mostar and the functioning of Mostar town council were of great
importance to taking such decision, Joseph said.
