SARAJEVO, Feb 20 (Hina) - It would take a few more days to complete a
report on the events which took place in Mostar since 10 February and which
were being investigated by an International Police Task Force (IPTF) special
commission, UN spokesman Aleksandar Ivanko said in Sarajevo on Thursday.
The UN mission informed the deputy of High Representative Michael
Steiner that a few more days were necessary to translate accurately all
documents and the investigator's report, Ivanko said, adding that no
preliminary report on the investigation would be issued. He also refused to
comment on the sequence of steps to follow after it became known who was
responsible for the Mostar incidents.
According to an agreement reached by the highest Croat and Muslim
officials in Sarajevo on 12 February, the IPTF investigative team must
within seven days find out what exactly happened in Mostar and make its
report known to the public.
In his yesterday's interview for Sarajevan Studio 99 TV station,
Michael Steiner said that recent events in Mostar abused the international
community's patience. There would be no hesitation as to the undertaking of
all available measures in case one side refused to respect the results of
the investigation. The solution to the situation in Mostar was a
precondition to change the situation in other crisis Federation
municipalities, Steiner concluded.
