PRLIC INSISTS ON A COMPLETE REPORT ON MOSTAR EVENTS

ZAGREB, Feb 27 (Hina) - The Bosnian Croat side insisted on completing a report of the international police investigating commission on events in Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Jadranko Prlic said on the phone to the Croatian Television news broadcast 'Motrista' late last night. Reiterating that on February 12, it was agreed that all events should be clarified, Prlic said that the report, however, dealt only with the confrontation which had happened in the town at about 14.00 hrs February 10. "The Croat side could not accept such an approach, as it blames again only one side, Croats, in a stereotypical but this time drastic way. That's why we have insisted that the report should be completed and we shall persist in it, along with the obligation to implement what will be found out " Prlic said on the phone from Sarajevo. Prlic was a member of the Bosnian Croat delegation that attended a Forum of the Federation session in Sarajevo on Wednesday evening. He said that the Croat side had judged the report from two aspects: first, how facts about the confrontation itself were established, and it had some remarks about that; and second, that is very important, whether the whole context of the events was defined, in which events had taken place days before the confrontation and what has ensued since then. "We should say that the report contains also objectively established facts, some of which cannot be denied and are to the detriment of some Croats. But, the report warns with reason that both eastern and western Mostar police failed to provide protection to potential and actual victims of a conflict atmosphere in Mostar", Prlic said. Prlic stressed that the report created a new situation, i.e. the new pressure of the international community, and said that he had just received a letter of British Foreign Secretary asking for implementation of report's recommendations immediately and in full, and that he had been receiving such messages all the day. Prlic added that all Croat officials in Sarajevo had a series of meetings with international community representatives. "I maintain personally that the whole situation ... begins to be observed. Not only that incident but also what had happened before and since, particularly the whole context of events (in the Croat-Moslem Federation), begin to be perceived," Prlic said adding that Bosnian Croat requested to be able to exercise their rights in all areas of the Federation. "These are critical days both for the project of the Federation and for the entire Bosnia-Herzegovina. Everyone who expects quick results and great turns, has his head in the clouds. All important processes have been almost blocked and the Bosniak (Moslem) side does not allow reorganization of former municipalities, without which, speaking realistically, the survival of Croats is in jeopardy in many parts of the Federation," Prlic said. He said that Bosnian Croat leadership was in contact with the international community, and that it was able to control the whole situation. He appealed for maintenance of peace and stability. He also told the Croatian Television that Wednesday's talks created opportunities of a resolution of the mentioned question as well as of issues of new municipalities, Sarajevo, and situations in central Bosnia and in Mostar.
