SPLIT, Feb 24 (Hina) - The laying of a keel on Monday marked the beginning
of the building of the second in a series of three tanker ships, being built
in the harbour of south Croatian port Split for Swiss shipping company
Sovchart from Geneva.
This is part of a programme on the building of nine chemical tanker
ships, agreed between the Croatian and Swiss governments, to be built for
the Swiss in the Croatian harbours of Trogir, Pula and Split.
The first tanker, currently in building, is to sail in the middle of
May, whereas the one whose building began today, is announced to sail two
months later.
All the tankers have the same characteristics - a 48 ton dead-weight,
a 183 metres length, a 33 metres width and a 13 metres draught.
