"I think this is a very successful visit, starting with
talks with Transitional Administrator Jacques Klein and his
associates, because we openly discussed the need of
strengthening the Croatian component in the TPF. We received
convictions and a ledge that it would be so," Penic said,
adding that the composition of the police force should be set
up according to the pre-war composition of the population in
the area.
All those who fulfilled the preconditions for receiving
Croatian documents could become Croatian police officers,
Penic said.
He visited the Knezevo-Udvar border crossing, Beli
Manastir and Batina. In a statement to the press, Penic
expressed satisfaction with the situation in the region and
announced the introduction of the Croatian kuna into the
Croatian Danube river region, which would first be used in the
paying of salaries to members of the Transitional Police
Force.
