VINKOVCI, Jan 31 (Hina) - Offices for issuing Croatian
documents in Brsadin, Negoslavci and Bobota in the area under
UNTAES control are closed because the personnel are being
prevented from working, head of the Vukovar County Office for
General Administration, Marijana Matanovic, told Hina on
Friday.
The office in Brsadin, which should have been opened on
29 January had not been opened because the personnel had been
prevented from entering the office, Matanovic said.
Local Serbs had removed the furniture from an office in
Bobota and relocated it, she added.
There are nine offices for issuing Croatian documents in
the Vukovar County. So far, 3,000 citizenship certificates and
identification cards have been issued to the local residents.
Out of 37,000 applications for Croatian documents which
had been submitted by Serbs who had settled in the area from
other parts of Croatia, 27,000 had been resolved by 25
January, Matanovic said.
The offices received about 1,000 applications a day, and
only in Vukovar 200 to 300, she said.
