VINKOVCI, Jan 16 (Hina) - Transitional Administrator of the
Croatian Danubian area General Klein at Thursday's broadcast
of the UNTAES radio expressed satisfaction with the Croatian
government Letter of Intent forwarded to the UN Security
Council about the completion of the peaceful reintegration of
the Croatian Danubian area, which, according to him, is
better than expected. #L#
Klein said that the document ensured for all persons in
the area under UNTAES administration safety and personal,
human and national rights, but he added that for now, the
Serbs' conduct was such as to obstruct the process of peaceful
reintegration.
Recalling that Serbs had asked for general amnesty and
the establishment of a Serb Ethnic Community Council, which
they had received, Klein stressed that now they were asking
that the area be one county, which, he said, was unacceptable.
UNTAES spokesman Philip Arnold announced Thursday that
Offices for issuing Croatian documents in the UNTAES-
administered area would be open every Saturday, starting this
Saturday, so that the largest possible number of people could
receive the necessary documents.
