Slovenian PM secures majority vote for revised budget

LJUBLJANA, Sept 16 (Hina) - Slovenia's parliament approved the revised budget by a majority vote on Friday, which may be a positive sign for the minority government of Prime Minister Borut Pahor ahead of a confidence vote next week.

The revised budget has reduced the expenditures by EUR 365 million due to the sluggish economic growth which resulted in the reduction of budget revenues.

The amended budget was approved by 45 members of parliament, while 10 voted against. The leading opposition Social Democratic Party (SDS) abstained from the vote.

The voting on the appointment of five new ministers in the Pahor cabinet by the parliament is scheduled for next week.
