PRISTINA, Dec 19 (Hina) - Finnish pathologists whose task was to
investigate war crimes in Kosovo, left this Yugoslav province
Thursday due to the impossibility of continuing their work,
Pristina's daily in Albanian "Koha Ditore" said Saturday.
The pathologists were authorised by the European Union and
permitted by Belgrade authorities to perform inspections of six
locations in Kosovo suspected as war crime scenes during conflicts
in the province.
We are disappointed that the Serbian police insisted to supervise
our work, the experts' team head, Helena Rantta said. She stressed
there had never been any talk that the exhumations would be
supervised by Serbian police.
We are, however, not giving up on the research, especially in Gonji
Obrinj, where 21 members of an Albanian family had allegedly been
massacred, Rantta said.
She added the experts were returning to Finland to file reports to
authorities, but were planning to return to Kosovo at the beginning
of next year.
