SERBIAN TROOPS ATTACK AFTER A MURDER OF LOCAL SERB

PRISTINA, Dec 26 (Hina)- Following a murder at 11 A.M. of a 65 old Serb in the village of Obranqe, near Podujevo, Serbian forces attacked forces of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in that village. The attack, reinforced with armoured vehicles, started slightly after 11 A.M., the Kosovo Information Center in Pristina reports. According to the same source, members of the KLA stopped the Serbian forces at the outskirts of the village. Obranqe has been targeted the Serbian forces for several days now. Situation in Podujevo and nearby villages, which have been attacked over the past two days is very difficult, the Kosovo Human Rights an Freedoms Committee said on Saturday. In those attacks at least nine Kosovo Albanians were killed and several were wounded. Strong Serbian police forces are still deployed in Podujevo and the surroundings. According to the information center, on Saturday morning the Serbian police raided the village of Radavci near Pec, ostensibly in search of weapons. During the raid they beat up two local activists of the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo. Later on Radavci were visited by members of an OSCE verification commission. (Hina) mr
