PRESIDENT TUDJMAN AND RUSSIAN PREMIER DISCUSS BILATERAL RELATIONS

President Tudjman, who arrived in Russia on Thursday for a three- day official visit, laid on Friday a wreath at the monument of an unknown hero in Alexandrov Park in Moscow. During the talks, Primakov said Russia was interested in peace in central Europe, and that not one side participating in the war in the region of the former Yugoslavia uses force. He pointed out the importance of Croatia for the solving of the crisis in the region of the former Yugoslavia. Relations between Russia and Croatia were intensifying lately, Primakov stressed. Tudjman said he highly appreciated Russia's role in international life, as well as the objectivity of the Russian Government in the solving of the crisis in the former Yugoslavia, especially in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He stressed that the world had an increasing need for Russia's presence as a world power and factor in solving all open issues in international politics. Tudjman said he wished to promote relations between the two countries. After the meeting, Tudjman and Primakov will sign seven bilateral agreements which would strengthen the two counties' military, economic, trade and cultural cooperation. Accompanying Tudjman are Croatian President's Office Chief-of- Staff Ivica Kostovic, Foreign Minister Mate Granic, European Integration Minister Ljerka Mintas-Hodak, Defence Minister Pavao Miljavac, Culture Minister Bozo Biskupic, Economy Minister Nenad Pogres, and head of the president's cabinet Gordan Radin.
