?ZAGREB, Dec 16 (Hina) - In his speech during the opening of a war
school in Zagreb, President Tudjman neither spoke about NATO, not
made threats against NATO troops. He stressed that Croatia was
prepared to, using all forces, defend its territory, Croatian
President public relations officer, Tihomir Vinkovic, said
Wednesday.
Speaking for the Croatian Television, Vinkovic said the claims made
by US State Department's spokesman James Foley, as published by the
US Embassy in Zagreb on Wednesday, were "unfounded".
It is surprising, Vinkovic added, that the Stabilisation Force
(SFOR) was prepared to use force in a location at which the border
between Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina has not yet been marked,
Martin Brod, particularly when it is well known that an agreement
has been reached that the issue, be resolved by the two countries'
border commissions.
It is especially surprising that the State Department reminded
Croatia of its obligations towards the Hague criminal tribunal,
when Croatia is the only country that has fulfilled its commitments
to the Tribunal, while, not one person who had committed crimes
against Croatians has been called before the Tribunal, Vinkovic
said.
He added that the State department spokesman's statement "differs
from views about President Tudjman's speech forwarded by the State
Department to American diplomatic missions around the world".
