MISSING PERSONS' FAMILIES DISSATISFIED WITH SLOW OF INT ORGANISATIONS

ZAGREB, Dec 2 (Hina) - The families of missing and imprisoned persons expressed their dissatisfaction with the slowness showed by the international community and humanitarian organisations, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) pledged to continue exerting pressure on those responsible to solve this painful problem. According to ICRC data, out of the total 3,492 requests from the Croatian side, 2,410 cases remain unsolved, ICRC head Isabelle Butticaz told Hina on Thursday. The ICRC is aware that the situation for the families of missing persons on any side has been and, unfortunately, remains to be intolerable, Butticaz said in a letter she forwarded to international organisations and diplomatic missions in Croatia. "According to our data, more than 400 cases of missing persons were solved last year", head of the Croatian Government Commission for Missing and Imprisoned Persons, Major general Ivan Grujic told Hina. "Unfortunately, lately the largest number of missing persons are found in mass graves," Grujic said. The whereabouts of most missing persons have been uncovered through bilateral meetings with the Serbian side, he added. (hina) lml mm
