ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - Prime ministers and their representatives
of 16 member-countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI), at
the end of a two day summit adopted a common statement, in which they
called on the consolidation of political dialogue with the European
Union, advocated the strengthening of cooperation within CEI
countries, and expressed their concern about the Kosovo
situation.
The final document included two significant components - political
and economic, said the Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa,
following the closure of the prime ministers' plenary meeting,
which ended a two-day CEI Summit in Zagreb.
"In the political point of view, the document shows that no new
lines of division in Europe could be made, for everyone has certain
rights and responsibilities to carry equally with others. In the
economic point of view, it points to the fact that we must stop
neglecting mutual CEI member-country markets and our cooperation
with them", said Matesa.
He added that Croatia is very satisfied with the just concluded
summit.
"Considering the number of senior political officials, present at
the Summit, this is the most important meeting ever held in Croatia,
and presents absolute success of the Croatian Republic and its
diplomacy", Matesa added.
He described the bilateral meetings as very successful, for,
according to him, "many issues, which were on hold for a while, were
discussed, such as negotiations on free trade with countries such
as the Czech Republic, Slovakia or Hungary, and a series of meetings
on the prime ministers' or ministers' level have been agreed on",
Matesa concluded.
