ZAGREB, Nov 18 (Hina) - The cooperation of central European
chambers of trade and industry (CECCI) continues to have the same
importance for economic development of countries of the Central
European Initiative (CEI) as well as for the market economy and
economic cooperation and exchange between CEI countries and the
European Union (EU).
This was stated by the presidents of CEI chambers of commerce of
trade and industry, who held their annual conference in Zagreb on
Wednesday.
The conference was chaired by the president of the Croatian Chamber
of Commerce (HGK), Nadan Vidosevic, who is chairing the CECCI this
year.
The CEI gathers 16 member-countries, of which Austria and Italy are
members of the EU, while other 14 members are countries in
transition. The CEI countries create a market with a population of
200 million.
The final document, adopted at today's conference, stressed that
internal cooperation could help the chambers improve their
reputation, as well as strengthen national economies and enable
them to meet the necessary criteria for admission to the EU.
The presidents of chambers expressed a wish for all trade and
industry chambers to become members of Eurochambers, an
association representing European trade and industry chambers at
