ZAGREB, Nov 19 (Hina) - The international agency for business
information and financial viability, Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) has
assessed Croatia's credit rating for November as DB5b, a little
higher than its previous score.
A month ago, Croatia's rating was DB5c, D&B's Zagreb representative
company Bonline reported on Thursday.
The higher credit rating can be attributed to good fiscal and
monetary policies and more stable macro-economic policies compared
to other Eastern European countries such as Russia, Belorussia and
Ukranie. However, macro-economic balances in Croatia are not
stable, notes a report released by D&B, and have not been adapted to
the demands of a market economy as is the case in Slovenia for
example.
Slovenia was given a credit rating of DB3a and heads all eastern
European countries.
Dun & Bradstreet's DB indicators of investment and business risks
in individual countries relates to the risks tied to export
payments and investment returns.
Evaluations are made based on political, commercial, macro-
economic and foreign trade risks. They are divided into seven
categories and numbered from one to seven. A score of one represents
the least possible risks while seven represents the highest risk
category. Each category is then divided into a further four risk
stages, classified with the letters a, b, c & d.
The DB5 category, where Croatia is currently located, signifies an
area of high risk prevailed with significant insecurity.
Business investments in these countries are recommended to a
limited level in selective transactions with high returns.
Evaluations by D&B, who in its time, foresaw the Russian crisis,
demands appropriate attention as this certainly influences foreign
companies, banks and credit-insurance institutions concerned with
doing business in Croatia.
This international company has for more than 150 years assisted its
clients in determining the level of risks involved in business
moves.
Over two million clients in 230 countries have placed their
confidence in the services offered by D&B as a valuable source of
business information.
