ZAGREB, Nov 14 (Hina) - A Croatian documentary "Kravata!" (Tie), in
which this Croatian 'invention' was shown through sociological and
psychological views and various interesting facts, was shown on
Croatian Television on Friday night.
The film "Kravata!", was filmed in 19 days on locations in Croatia,
France and Italy through a period of five months.
According to the "Academic Cravatica" which produced the film, it
had been depicted and created using the BBC technique of
"entertainment" documentaries, which, in a popular way provides
the public with scientific information about the subject,
The documentary was made in the manner of similar films about
renowned world products, such as the Swiss knife and the Panama
hat.
According to the producers, the tie is an ideal example of a useful
item which clearly depicts not only fashion, but also historical,
philosophic and overall life trends through the past 300 years.
Besides giving the basic information about the tie, the film
explains why a narrow tie was worn in the fifties, a wide one in the
seventies, and a linear style today, and why those who wish to
succeed in law and economics must not wear bow-ties.
The film shows how the industrial revolution had great impact on the
tie, why post-modernism and the tie have a latent animosity between
them, and how the way in which somebody ties a tie shows his
character.
Comments on the tie were given by fashion designer Pierre Cardin,
actor John Malkovich, writer and historian Francois Chaille, the
director of the "Academia Cravatica", Marijan Busic, various
sociologists, psychologists, tie-makers and designers.
The documentary has already been bought by Germany's television
station RTL.
