ZAGREB, Nov 13 (Hina) - The opposition has neither invited me, nor
would I have changed to another party, Croatian Foreign Minister
Mate Granic said in Friday's issue of a Zagreb daily.
In an interview to "Vecernji List", Granic was asked how much
grounds there is to speculations circulating in the media for the
past several weeks about his possible resignation to the duty of
Foreign Minister and about his resigning from the ruling Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) party.
As Foreign Minister, I have based by actions on the support of the
President of the Republic, the majority ruling party in Parliament,
the public, and sufficient manoeuvre space.
If support from any of the four factors are withheld, if I should not
have sufficient space for dialogue and action, I would not remain on
the function of Foreign Minister, Granic said.
He stressed that he strongly advocated the respect of democratic
standards, parliamentary democracy, true market economy and a true
European orientation and Croatia's real integration into Europe.
