an inauguration of a new European Tribunal for Human Rights on
Monday arrived in Strasbourg to participate at a symposium focusing
on the achievements and perspectives of the European system of
human rights protection.
The Croatian representatives are led by Justice Minister Ivan
Ramljak.
Ramljak will hold talks with the secretary-general of the Council
of Europe, Daniel Tarschys, and representatives of the
Parliamentary Assembly.
He will also hold talks on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Coulcil of
Europe directives for human rights, legal issues and political
issues.
The delegation consists of the president of the Croatian Supreme
Court Milan Vukovic and Vice-President Jurica Malcic.
The Symposium entitled the European System of Protection of Human
Rights : Achievements and Perspectives, is an introduction to the
inauguration celebration.
The symposium is organised by the chairmen of the former European
Tribunal for Human Rights and the European Commission for Human
Rights, Rudolf Bernhardt and Tefan Trechsel.
The new Tribunal will unite the former European Tribunal and
Commission.
Present at the inauguration will be Council of Europe senior
officials, numerous foreign ministers, justice ministers and
presidents of the constitutional and supreme courts.
