ZAGREB, Oct 29 (Hina) - The latest report of the European Commission
reflects the unchanging policy of the European Union towards
Croatia, Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa said on Thursday.
It is more about a reflection of certain situations on Croatia than
about Croatia itself, said Matesa.
In a statement released on Wednesday the EC notes that Croatia,
Bosnia-Herzegovina and Yugoslavia have still not taken the
appropriate political and economic steps to qualify for accession
to the programme of assistance and trade cooperation with the
European Union.
The EU has double standards - one group for Croatia, and the other
for other countries, Matesa warned adding he had asked European
representatives why Croatia had to be above all standards which
were valid for other states.
"The response... that Croatia should not repeat their mistakes,
does not suit us", said the Premier. Croatia fulfilled all
conditions to enter the PHARE programme in 1995 when it had the same
television and the same election law as it has now, he concluded.
