ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - A Requium Mass was held on All Souls' Day,
Nove 2 in Zagreb at the "Wall of Pain", in honour of all those who
were killed in defence of Croatia and particularly those who are
still considered missing and their resting places are not known.
The Wall of Pain was built in autumn 1993 by families of
missing people in front of the then UNPROFOR headquarters. Bricks
in the wall have names of each person whose whereabouts have been
unknown since the beginning of the Serbian aggression.
Deputy President of the Croatian National Sabor Jadranka Kosor lad
flowers and lit candles at the foot of the cross at the Wall of Pain
for all those who were killed or died during the Homeland War.
Zdenka Farkas, the head of "Apela" (The Centre for the Protection of
Human Rights of those Imprisoned or Missing Croatian Citizens and
Members of Their Families) reminded that 1,860 Croatian citizens
were still considered missing or detained.
The Wall of Pain and the gathered pained families are evidence of
the ineffectiveness of international organisations particularly
the Red Cross, who have not done anything to stop the atrocities
said Zdenka Farkas.
Rakas invited families to gather at Ovcara (the site of a mass grave
near Vukovar) on Nov 20 where a plaque is to be erected bearing the
names of the victims of war.
