ZAGREB, Oct 28 (Hina) - The European Union (EU) Film Festival will
open in Zagreb on November 5 with the screening of Austrian film
"Funny Games".
Twelve EU countries will present some 20 of their latest pictures in
Zagreb's Kinoteka cinema up to November 15.
This year part of the festival programme will for the first time be
presented in the southern Croatian port of Split, between November
19 and 24, representatives of the Austrian Cultural Institute in
Zagreb, the organiser of the festival, told reporters on
Wednesday.
The festival will feature more films than enter regular theatrical
distribution in Croatia per year, said Dragan Svaco, manager of
"Zagreb Film", the chain which owns Kinoteka.
He recalled that as of July 1 Kinoteka was a member of the "Europe
Cinema" network which stimulates the distribution and screening of
European film.
The manager of the British Council in Zagreb Robin Evans hoped the
festival would show the diversity of European cinema, as happened
last year, and prove there is cinema outside of Hollywood.
