GOVT & INT COMMUNITY REPS DISCUSS REFUGEE RETURN PROGRAMME

( Editorial: --> 9685 ) ZAGREB, Oct, 19 (Hina) - Representatives of the Croatian government, headed by Premier Zlatko Matesa, and of the international community on Monday discussed the realisation of a programme for the return of refugees and displaced persons. Today's talks were held at a suggestion of the international representatives, with the aim to incite progress in the programme's realisation. According to a statement from the government's Communications Office, the talks were constructive and based on efforts towards achieving a joint goal. The parties agreed to hold a meeting of a coordinating committee for monitoring the return programme. The committee will be headed by Lovre Pejkovic, head of the government's Office for Displaced Persons and Refugees, and Robert Robinson, head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) mission to Croatia. Also taking part in the talks were, on the Croatian side, Foreign Minister Mate Granic, Reconstruction and Development Minister Jure Radic, and European Integration Minister Ljerka Mintas-Hodak. International representatives included Ambassadors of the United States, William Montgomery, Austria's Rudolf Bogner, and Britain's Colin Munro, as well as European Commission special envoy Per Vinther, and the head of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe mission, Tim Guldimann.
