Two war veterans' associations slam Mesic's statement

ZAGREB, Sept 12 (Hina) - The association of disabled Croatian Homeland Defence War veterans, whose acronym is HVIDRA, and the UBIUDR association of war veterans from Koprivnica on Monday condemned in the strongest terms the statement by former Croatian President Stjepan Mesic about the responsibility for the 1990s war in the former Yugoslavia.

Mesic has said in an interview with the Belgrade-based Press daily that he holds former Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic the most responsible for the 1990s war, adding that former Croatian president Franjo Tudjman was the second most responsible person for the war.

HVIDRA said that this was one of Mesic's many inappropriate statements and acts which show his personal hatred towards and jealousy of the first Croatian president.

UBIUDR said that this was yet another attempt by Mesic to delude the public by equating the aggressor and the victim.
