MOSTAR, Sept 25 (Hina) - The payments system in Bosnia-Herzgovina
needs a complete reform because the current system is confusing and
expensive, Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia-Herzegovina
Peter Nicholl said on Friday.
Nicholl said this during his visit to the Mostar branch of the
Central Bank, where he and representatives of two business banks
discussed the advancement of procedures to introduce the Bosnian
currency (the convertible mark) to the payment system.
Nicholl evaluated that the introduction of the convertible mark was
fairing well to date.
The Administrative Committee of the Central Bank has decided to
release coins of 10, 15 and 20 convertible marks in the near future,
Nicholl said.
Decisions regarding the coins' design which are to be manufactured
in England, are still pending.
Ankica Musa, director of the Central Bank branch in Mostar, stated
that a council had been formed with the aim of conducting reforms to
the current payment system.
The council will require political support, and the current laws
will need to be changed to accommodate these reforms, she said.
