SARAJEVO/STRASBOURG, Sept 7 (Hina) - A delegation of the Council of
Europe Parliamentary Assembly will visit Bosnia-Herzegovina to
monitor the elections to be held on September 12 and 13.
Sixteen monitors will visit Bosnia from September 10 to 14 at the
invitation of the Bosnian parliament, the Council of Europe said in
a statement Monday.
Prior to the elections, the monitors will meet candidates for the
state presidency so as to gather information about their programs.
The purpose of the visit is for the monitors to see for themselves
that elections have been carried out in a free and democratic
manner, which is one of the preconditions for Bosnia's full
admission to the Council of Europe.
