PRISTINA, Aug 27 (Hina) - Eleven members of a Kosovo Albanian family
were killed on Wednesday while trying to escape from Grapce, a
village in the Shtimlja municipality, about 25km south of Pristina,
the Kosovo committee for the protection of human rights and
freedoms said Thursday.
The tragedy happened when a shell fired from a Serbian tank hit a
tractor trailer with the Aslani family in it.
The shell killed 11 persons, including eight children, one of them
being a six-month-old baby, and heavily wounded three other
members.
The Serbian authorities have issued no statement on this tragic
event.
At least 20 other Kosovo Albanians were killed in continued Serbian
attacks, Albanian sources reported.
The Pristina-based daily in Albanian "Bujku" said Serbian forces
were shelling, setting on fire and pillaging villages and towns in
Kosovo.
Serbian military vehicles have been spotted in several towns,
including Pristina, where shooting could be heard during the last
night, "Bujku" reported.
