SARAJEVO, Aug 25 (Hina) - A Stabilisation Force (SFOR) spokesperson
has denied media claims saying a recent fire which broke out in the
area of Glamocko Polje (south-western Bosnia) has ravaged a number
of inhabited villages and houses.
SFOR spokeswoman Sheena Thompson told reporters in Sarajevo on
Tuesday that SFOR had carried out an investigation and established
that the fire had damaged only uninhabited houses in abandoned
villages.
SFOR had the fire under control all the time and took measures to
prevent it from spreading, Thompson added.
Fire brigades could not be sent out because of the danger of mine
fields which still have not been removed from the area, she said.
Thompson added that the fire had bee caused exclusively by
exceptionally hot weather and dry grass.
