MOSTAR, July 23 (Hina) - The UNHCR's Mostar office on Thursday
welcomed a declaration proclaiming three municipalities in the
southern Bosnia-Herzegovina town opened for the return of
refugees.
The declaration was passed on Wednesday by the Bosniak (Muslim)
dominated municipalities of Stari Grad, Jugoistok and Sjever.
The declaration by local authorities is an important step towards
the restoration of confidence between those three municipalities
and people who want to return to their homes, the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees maintained in a statement released
on Thursday.
The UNHCR welcomes future declarations in the area of Mostar, which
would turn Mostar into an open, unified and multi-ethnic city as it
used to be, the statement stressed.
