SPLIT, July 17 (Hina) - The Split town council on Friday unanimously
decided to declare Austria's former Foreign Minister Alois Mock and
Banja Luka Bishop Franjo Komarica honorary citizens.
Austria's contribution in the crucial moments of Croatia's
struggle for its recognition is great, especially the contribution
of the then Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Alois Mock, the
council said in a statement.
Mock is to receive an honorary citizen charter at a ceremony in
Split on August 7.
The decision on declaring Banja Luka Bishop Franjo Komarica an
honorary citizen of Split was prompted by the Bishop's brave
mission of telling the truth about the war in the region and of
helping every man, regardless of his nationality, religion or
social class.
The ceremony of handing the charter to Bishop Komarica will be
organised after the Bishop is contacted and arrangements are made.
