ZAGREB/BANJA LUKA, July 14 (Hina)- The archbishop of Sarajevo,
Vinko Puljic, and the bishop of Banja Luka, Franjo Komarica, met on
Tuesday in Banja Luka with the president of Republika srpska,
Biljana Plavsic to discuss potential venues for the activities of
the Catholic church in the territory of the RS, the news agency of
the Croatian bishops' conference reports.
Cardinal Puljic asked the RS president to enable him to freely
conduct his pastoral activities and visit the flock in the
territory of the Serb entity and his bishops to work freely in areas
under their jurisdiction.
The archbishop also stressed the need for an urgent construction of
worship facilities in areas where the churches have been
destroyed.
The RS president showed understanding for the Cardinal's pleas and
promised her personal support.
Komarica, the bishop of Banja Luka, asked president Plavsic to use
her authority to streamline the investigations of the abduction of
priests and ensure restitution of monasteries, churches and
rectories to the Catholic communities.
Biljana Plavsic promised to instruct relevant ministries and the RS
Government to shortly address all the pleas and objections that
were voiced by Cardinal Puljic and bishop Komarica, KTA reports.
