ZAGREB, July 9 (Hina) - Representatives of the Croatian government,
employers and trade unions on Thursday signed an agreement to make
the Economic-Social Council (GSV) continue working in the present
composition.
The mandate of GSV's current members expired on May 16, by which
date the trade union federations were to resolve a dispute
concerning their representation in the Council, depending on the
number of workers they represent.
Even though the dispute has not yet been resolved, the unions agreed
they would try to reach a consensus on all issues before these are
put on the GSV agenda.
Those issues on which no consensus is reached will not be discussed
by the union.
The representatives of all three sides in the GSV were satisfied
that the Council will continue working.
Premier Zlatko Matesa said the GSV had played a very positive role
by introducing social dialogue in government, employers and unions
negotiations.
"I am confident we will also find a solution for the law on
establishing union representation at the GSV, and for a good and
correct division of union property", the Premier said.
