SPLIT, June 27 (Hina) - German Dominican monk Diethard Zils
received a high Croatian state decoration on Friday night, as a sign
of thanks for his many years of supporting Croatia and spreading
true information about the country.
Split-Dalmatia Prefect Branimir Luksic awarded Abbot Zils the
Order of the Croatian Wicker-work at a special ceremony at the
Dominican monastery in Split.
Abbot Zils tirelessly conveyed information on the culture, history
and political situation of the Croatian people, Prefect Luksic
said.
His involvement especially came to the fore not only when the
Homeland War erupted in Croatia, but also when conflict engulfed
neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Also present at the ceremony was the world Master of the Dominican
order, Abbot Timothy Radcliffe, from the United States, who is on an
official visit to the Dominican province in Croatia.
Dominican Croatian provincial Abbot Marinko Zadro also addressed
the guests, while Abbot Zils held a lecture on reconciliation.
