RUSSIAN MOVIE WINS "ANIMAFEST" GRAND PRIX

( Editorial: --> 2773 ) ZAGREB, June 21 (Hina) - The Grand Prix of the 13th international animated movie festival "Animafest" went to "Rusalka" by the Russian director Alexander Petrov, it was said at a press conference in Zagreb Sunday. The award "Zlatko Grgic" for the best first movie was presented to the Russian directors Mikhail Lisovoy (The Major's Nose) and Valentin Olshvang (Pink Doll). The best animated movie in the category of films which last between 30 seconds and six minutes is the Dutch film "Sientje" by Christa Moesker; the best movie in the category from 6-15 minutes is "The Albatross" by Paul Bush from Great Britain while "Flatworld" by Daniel Greaves from Great Britain won the first award in the category from 15-30 minutes. The first award in the new festival category - the best student movie - went to the British director Liana Dognini for "One Eye". Special jury awards went to the commercial "Cambell Soup" by Alexandra Korejwo and three Canadian movies, a children's movie "Dinner for Two" by Janet Perlman, an abstract movie "Linear Dreams" by Richard Reeves and "How Wings are Attached to the Back of Angels" by Craig Welch. A special award for humour went to Aleksander Bubnov from the Ukraine for "Blue Beard's Last Wife". The best animated movie in the viewers' opinion is "Flatworld" which also won a jury award.
