ZAGREB, June 25 (Hina) - Foreign Minister Mate Granic received
Zagreb-based representatives of the international community on
Thursday to inform them about the Croatian Government's Programme
for the Return and Accommodation of Refugees and Displaced
Persons.
Granic received ambassadors, charge d'affaires and other
diplomatic representatives of the European Union Troika
(Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and Austria), the European
Commission, the United States, the United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Organisation for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Granic told them about his successful meetings with German Foreign
Minister Klaus Kinkel and British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook
earlier this week and their support for the Programme, a Foreign
Ministry statement said.
Minster Granic also clarified certain misunderstandings regarding
the format in which the Government has presented the Return
Programme to the Croatian National Parliament for debate.
He emphasised that the Programme, which has been drafted in
cooperation with the UNHCR and the international community, will be
debated on Friday as a separate document.
Parliament has also received the Government's paper titled "The
Refugee Crisis - Roots and Consequences", explaining the historic
reasons for the crisis and the documents that accompany the Return
Programme, the statement said.
