ZAGREB, June 18 (Hina) - The Telecommunications Council will by
September 15 at the latest decide who will be the concessionary of
another cellular communication network in Croatia.
The Council Thursday opened bids submitted for a concession
granting international tender.
Bids were sent in by 19 corporate bodies.
According to Telecommunications Council president Dominik
Filipovic, valid bids were sent in by four firms.
These are Caib, which includes Vecernji List daily, Ingra,
Croatia's Post Bank, Mobilcom from Austria, and Wireless
International from the United States; Zagitel, in association with
Zagreb Bank, oil company INA, Deutsche Telecom from Germany and
Westel 9000 from Hungary; Enconet International, in association
with the Croatian Power Utility Company, the Zagreb-based
Transmission Line, the Faculty of Electronics and Computing from
Zagreb, ELKA, the Koncar Electronics Institute, Metroholding,
Elektroprojekt, Brodomerkur from Split and Novalic from Osijek;
and the Istanbul-based Rumeli Telekom from Turkey, in association
with Glumina Bank and the Osijek City Bank.
Filipovic said the new cellular communication network should begin
working in a year.
At present Croatian Post and Telecommunications is the owner of the
sole Croatian cellular communication network.
