ZAGREB, June 8 (Hina) - Sao Paulo mayor Celso Pitta passed a law by
which May 30 was declared the National Day of Croatia in Brazil's
largest city.
According to a Sunday statement from the Croatian Embassy in
Brazil, the mayor's decision was published in Sao Paulo's official
herald on May 29, when it immediately came into effect.
The said law is the result of an initiative and efforts by Croatian
emigrants, primarily Francis Surjan Trofa, who presides the
Sociedade Amigos de Dalmacia emigrants' association.
